About the project

This 249 square foot 8 bedroom residence is sited in a sparse urban residential area in coal city, its elevated terrain captures sweeping views of the urban streetscape. The design is zoned into a guest chalet and the main building area, these two functions are separated by a party wall.

Low cost and ease of construction were the two primary drivers of cubical-inspired design. The building volume is created by extrusion of square forms, and elongated cubiform is projected into the site that defines in unison the entrance below and a terrace above. Sustainable interior finishes such as wood and stone defined the interior finishes.
